The Magic of 8: What I Learned on the Lions Gate Portal about Numbers, Grief, and Manifestation
Do you see the 8? I touched this tree tonight and remembered tomorrow is 8/8 - the Lions Gate Portal - an excellent time to manifest. Ancient Egyptians considered this day the Galactic New Year, a day when the star Sirius, sun, and Earth are aligned. Sirius is a fixed star, a timekeeper for ancient people, calling us to pause and focus on the good, to “live for the hope of it all.” Whether Lions Gate is real or not is not of my concern. I trust the numbers to make magic happen. Let me explain…
I had a dear friend, may she rest in peace and power, who was very into numerology. Joyce explained that each number carries with them a specific association. From her, I learned that 8 was associated with money, abundance, power, change, and transformation. At the time, I scoffed it off as silly and would be like, “yea okayyy,” but then, years after her passing, I began to notice numbers catching my eye in random places and my ears began to perk up anytime numbers were brought up in conversations. I was intrigued when my friend @meganlanoux mentioned that Rolex only uses the number 28 in the date window of every watch ad. Then, I noticed how almost anything I bought ended in an 8, like $19.98. Supposedly, ending in a number associated with money and power could make a product more successful or enticing…
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, my son’s first word was the number 2, so you can only imagine my excitement with numbers after they broke the 18 month spell of silence between us, quickly evaporating my tears and fear that my son may never speak. Numbers allowed me to hear his sweet little voice. It felt like magic.
When turned on its side, 8 appears similar to the infinity symbol (∞). The infinity symbol denotes the boundless nature of the Universe. 8th month, 8th day, in a 8 year (2+0+2+4=8). 888 signals you to lean into the beauty of life and let yourself daydream - daydream about the life you desire with gratitude for what you have. I used to daydream that I could hear my son call out “Mommy” from the other room. Now, I can’t go an hour without hearing it. With that beautiful memory, I invite you to trust the ancient magic and guidance of numbers with me :)
